Square fused glass dish featuring rainbow colours
This product starts off as 2 pieces of clear glass 15cm x 15cm square. To these I add the 16 coloured pieces of glass and place into the kiln for a tack fuse which allows all of the glass pieces to join together whilst leaving some texture (i.e. the coloured pieces are slightly raised). After the initial fusing the glass then returns to the kiln where it is placed on a mould. This time when the glass is heated it gradually slumps down into the mould to create the dish shape. The whole process takes approximately 48 hours as each time the glass goes through the heat process it must do so slowly to make sure that there are no internal stresses which could cause fractures.
This dish is approximately 20mm deep
