Description
This colourful pink glass flower meadow has been made here at my workshop in Derbyshire. As a freestanding piece this would make a lovely gift for a birthday or anniversary. Alternatively, you could buy it just because you love it. It stands approximately 70mm tall by 170mm wide (this is the total length of the glass which is reduced slightly by the curve). The colours used are light pink and cranberry. These curves make an excellent gift for people who love handmade products and can be given for almost any occasion.
To make this piece involved bringing together a number of component pieces. The glass went through two kiln processes. Firstly to tack fuse all of the pieces together. This leaves a tactile, textured surface. The second process heats the glass so it can drape over a mould and form the curve. These two kiln processes take approximately 24 hours in total (not including cooling time). This makes sure the glass heats up and cools down in a controlled manner which reduces the chance of any stresses being created inside.
Ideally this pink glass flower meadow has been designed to be positioned where light can pass through to bring the image to life however if this is not possible it will also work well with a couple of battery tea lights behind. Please note: real tea lights can be used but may crack the glass if placed too close.
These pieces are individually handmade and as such will not be identical to the one shown in the main image.
